Work History

Geophysicist

Occidental Petroleum Oman (OXY)
01.2023 - Current
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams to plan and drill appraisal/development wells in Block-65.
  • Leveraged expertise to enhance asset area interpretation and update seismic velocity models, ensuring optimal drilling outcomes and risk mitigation in a sparse data environment.
  • Regional scale seismic mapping of shallow water aquifers to identify water source wells candidates to support Block-65 water demand in its early development stage.
  • Experience with supporting corporate reserves documentation.
  • Expanded responsibilities to include coaching/mentoring summer internship program candidates.
  • Humble experience in seismic quantitative interpretation for reservoir characterization.

Associate Geophysicist

Occidental Petroleum Oman (OXY)
09.2019 - 12.2022
  • Development geophysicist, experienced in 3D seismic interpretations for characterization and management of carbonate reservoirs.
  • Skilled in constructing structural models to mitigate drilling hazards and depth uncertainties, support active operations, facilitate field development planning, and provide interpretation products for reserves estimations.
  • Proficient in data integration across multiple disciplines, synthesizing diverse datasets to inform comprehensive analyses and strategic decision making in well placement and risk mitigation.
  • Competent in both structural and stratigraphic geological interpretation of seismic data.
  • Experienced in the identification and utilization of seismic attributes for stratigraphic interpretation and fault characterization.
  • Fundamental knowledge in seismic acquisition and processing.

Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) Industry Mentor

American Association Of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG
01.2021 - 12.2022
  • Obtained the role of being a technical coach providing technical advice and insights.
  • Supported students to follow exploration project workflow and enhanced their understanding and interpretation of the given dataset (seismic, well logs, core, etc.).

Projects

Sultan Qaboos University -OXY (Ongoing M.Sc. thesis) (2023-2024)

Charecterization and Probabilistic Estimation of Carbonate Reservoir Properties using Quantitative Geophysical Approaches (Case Study from the Natih Formation, North of Oman)

· Interpret seismic data and establish relationships between reservoir and elastic properties.

· Map the reservoir properties such as porosity and facies distribution using instantaneous inversion (RockDoc) and machine learning based inversion (OpenedTect).

· Analyze, interpret, and compare the results obtained by different proposed techniques in terms of resolution, efficiency, and reliability.

AAPG (IBA) (2019)

Evaluate the Petroleum Potentiality of Penbscot, Nova Scotia Basin in Canada

· Went through all exploration project workflow steps from basin scale overview, petroleum system evaluation, seismic interpretation, play fairway analysis, dry hole analysis, prospects identification and finally risk assessment and prospects ranking.

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) (B.Sc. thesis) (2018-2019)

The Integration of Gravity and Electrical Resistivity Tomography for Mapping Near Surface Cavities at Fahud area

· Processed and interpreted microgravity and electrical resistivity tomography data.

· Investigated the underground cavities and karstic systems and produced a risk map based on the generated geological models to minimize losses and optimize drilling locations.

Workshops and Programs

· AAPG Forward Geological Modeling Workshop in AbuDhabi (2022)

Learned about the new technologies in geological forward modeling as static modeling currently used in the industry have a lot of constrains and limitations.

· McKinsey Forward Program (2022)

Successfully completed forward online program, it’s for young professionals focusing on leadership, business, and digital skills that are relevant and transferrable across industries and roles.

· SEG Near-Surface Modeling and Imaging Workshop in Muscat (2022)

Gained an awareness about the new techniques applied in near surface processing and their limitations and understood how the near surface processing impact on seismic data confidence and their interpretations.

· Dotnxt (2021)

Successfully completed Phase I & II of dotnxt program for entrepreneurial development in frontier technologies (Introduction to Artificial Intelligence training & Introduction to Project Management training).
