  • Projects executed/under execution:
  • Ghubra and Azaiba sewage Network including the Central pumping station (total cost 130mln$)
  • Main sewage and irrigation network from Ghubra to Hamriya R/A including house connections and lifting stations as well as PDO golf course irrigation line (total cost 171mln$).
  • Al Khuwair sewage and irrigation network including the sewage main line in the wadi and rehabilitation of the existing network (total cost 65mln$).
  • Muttrah state sewage network (total cost 65mln$)
  • Al Qurum and Madinat al Ilam sewage and irrigation network, tendering stage (total cost 70mln$)
  • Construction of Haya head quarter (total cost 11mln$)
  • Construction of MSQ sewage/irrigation network with 2 LS (total cost 20mln$).

  • I was indirectly handling a team of 15 staff.
  • Project involved:
  • Marmul Polymer Flooding Project which is considered one of the top 100 projects in Shell in terms of criticality & uniqueness and cost more than 200mln$. However, in this project we constructed one of the biggest Polymer injection plants in the world and the first one in the middle east region. It was awarded as an EPC to a French company called SNF which subcontracted the design to MottMacdonald and construction to BEC, GPS, STS, PETRON, PETRECO, LCC’s,etc. The project was managed by PDO dedicated ring fenced team located in Muscat and Marmul.
  • Roles and Responsibilities (listed below but not limited):
  • Deliver the project on time without any LTI (lost time injury) and full compliance with Shell/PDO quality standards.
  • Liaise with the contract engineer to resolve the issues pre and post award of the contract.
  • Deputize the Project Manager in his absence.
  • Review and approve the HSE and quality plans along with my QA/QC engineer and HSE focal point.
  • Manage all disciplines personals and conflicts in the project.
  • Chair the weekly progress meeting at site with my team and all contractors.
  • Chair and attend most of the meetings with vendors and material suppliers in Oman and abroad i.e. Moscow, Belgium, UAE, France, etc.
  • Manage interfaces between all the contractors involved.
  • Attend and conduct quality and HSE audits.
  • Risk management.
  • Quality assurance.
  • Issue PO’s and release the milestones in SAP.
  • Prepare and implement Project Execution Plan.

  • Make sure that any conflict between the EPC and subcontractor is resolved at earliest.
  • Daily liaise with my team at site to make sure that nothing is hindering the progress.
  • Attend the monthly meetings with the director Leadership team when deputize the project manager (OSD LT).
  • Coordinate the Shutdown activities with operation planner and EPC.
  • Participate in quality and HSE audits.
  • Accompany PDO management team during the site visit and note down their comments.
  • Manage the interfaces between engineering, subsurface, function and operation at all key stages of the project.
  • Give rewards to my team staff upon achieving any milestone on time and give appreciation to contractors.
  • Prepare quarterly report for Shell CEO in PROMIS (on line).
  • Do presentations whenever is required (Management, tender board, knowledge sharing, etc.).
  • Develop new engineers and college summer trainees
  • Review and approve scopes and estimates for any minor scope not covered in the EPC i.e. laying FOC.
  • For the above additional scopes, try to source out the material from PDO surplus, stock and project stores in order to save time and money.
  • In addition to my duties, I give the civil technical support to my project i.e. approving/commenting the civil drawings, approving the materials sheets and resolving all the civil issues and conflicts either at design or construction stages.
