Dr. Issam Al-Barram

- Started in Sep 2022 in Petrogas Rima (PGR) as a senior Exploration geoscientist.

- My main responsibility is to explore for new hydrocarbon opportunies within Rima Small Satelite Field (RSSF) area with PDO's Block 6 in Eastern Flank area by interpreting seismic and integrate with other geological and petroleum data.

- Main focus has been unlocking the remaining potential of the Permo-Carboniferous Haushi. In addition focus has been shifted to unlock the Precambrian carbonates of Huqf.

- I continuously look for opportunities to improve our seismic and geological challenges in RSSF by collaborating with different vendors.

- I maintain and update the Exploration portfolio and present it to PGR and other shareholders management quarterly to stay the course and achieve the company's goals.

- My task is also to provide geological consultancy and coaching to other geologists in Petrogas Rima and to support any other activities for Petrogas EP (mother company of PGR).

- As part of coaching and leadership, I have managed to supervise 9 interns of which they have delivered excellent results assisting in understanding the subsurface uncertainties and risks of different plays.

- I conducted and lead different geological studies internally and externally.

- I started working on maturing oil Haushi and deeper plays opportunities in South Oman in beginning of 2021.

- This involved TWT SI and depth conversion of Haushi and shallower stratigraphy.

- This also involved pre-drill estimation of volume in place and recovered.

- In addition, I worked closely with the REs to establish Pressure gradient and Pore Pressure Prediction (PPP).

- This also involved collaboration and integration with PT and WE to come up with suitable well design and TD criteria.

- All surface and subsurface risk assessment was curried out by the well owner prior well spud.

- Working on different hydrocarbon trap configuration

- I had 2 discoveries targeting Gharif play truncation traps which contributed to PDO's exploration score card.

- Worked on TWT seismic interpretation of Haushi and Mafraq in Central Oman and then applied depth conversions.

- Matured different Gharif and Mafraq oil opportunities in Central Oman.

- Drilled 10 wells in Central Oman of which all were technically successful.

- Few discoveries in Gharif and Mafraq were made which allowed immediate hook-up to nearby production stations.

- This work involved pre-drill and post drill volumetrics and mapping which fed into updating the Exploration portfolio.

Having graduated with PhD in Palynology, I have been working as specialist biostratigrahper at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Exploration Directorate. During my 10 years as a Stratigrapher, I have worked on most of PDO fields, with particular focuson South Oman.

My main daily tasks in Exploration included:

o In-house stratigraphic analysis and reporting.

o Coordinate, QC and review out-sourced bio and chemo-stratigraphic analysis.

o Working closely with Regional Geology team to understand different plays and generate maps and identify new leads.

o Working closely with seismic interpreters to mature prospects, define clearly trapping mechanisms and uncertainties as well as review existing well data.

o Working closely with seismic interpreters, operation geologists and petroleum engineers to provide stratigraphic drilling support by reviewing cuttings descriptions and wireline logs and correlate with nearby wells.

o Post-drill well analysis; where it involves various stratigraphic/sedimentological analysis and integration with different G&G and PE inputs.

o Provide stratigraphic and geological consultancies for FDPs

o Provide stratigraphic/sedimentological regiona lthematic studies for play and reservoir understanding.

o Co-lead Al Khlata and Gharif field trips and co-author of PDO Haushi Field Trip Guide

o QC and review of existing PDO wells’ geological tops of Exploration and Production wells.

- Review geological tops and provide stratigraphic/sedimentological understanding to integrate with geochemical data to understand hydrocarbon charge history and migration paths.

- Lead two Integrated regional studies focusing on Central Oman opportunities.

- I worked on the stratigraphy of all Basins in Oman, but my focus was more into South Oman Eastern Flank area.

- I have resurrected in PDO the use of Chemostratigraphy in 2013 and applied it on different stratigraphy.
