Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Technologist IMLS (CM)
● Supervises and coordinates activities of Medical Technologists engaged in
performing serological, microbiological, bacteriological, biochemical, and
hematological tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
● Develops and modifies existing procedures and policies for the operation of the
laboratory.
● Develops and implements quality control systems for testing; ensures continued
compliance with licensing requirements.
● Supervise daily work of staff such as clinical laboratory tests.
● Maintains inventory for the laboratory and orders supplies and materials from
vendors.
● Ensures timely reporting of test results to clinical staff and assists clinical staff in
interpretation of results, as needed.
● Assists in the preparation and management of the laboratory budget.
● Maintains, adjusts, and makes minor repairs to laboratory instruments and
equipment.
● Mentors and evaluates new staff by giving proper orientation and training.
● Executes routine and stat tests through manual and automated methods in areas
including Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microscopy,
Immunoserology, Microbiology and Blood Banking to aid physicians in
diagnosing and treating disease.
● Receives patients’ samples, tests, verifies, and reports patient test results in
accordance with established protocols.
● Reviews the accuracy of patient results prior to releasing or reporting.
● Maintains sufficient supplies at workstation.
● Adheres to laboratory’s quality control procedures, instrument and procedural
calibrations and instrument maintenance schedules.
● Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the
laboratory’s established performance specifications.
● Trains and supervises new employees and students.
● Executes routine and stat tests through manual and automated methods in areas
including Hematology, Clinical Chemistry, Clinical Microscopy,
Immunoserology, Microbiology and Blood Banking.
● Operates, calibrates and conducts performance checks on equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
● Collected, received prepared specimens and followed accepting and rejecting criteria.
●Followed and implemented quality control according to defined department.
● Ensured that the safety measures are implemented
● Kept laboratory in compliance with applicable guidelines and laws
